She began practicing this area of the law in 2012 by pursuing collection of statutory attorney fees from health care providers in connection with workers’ compensation claims. Through this facet of her practice she discovered the need for thoughtful, detailed and personable representation of workers’ compensation claimants, and began representing Virginia’s injured workers in 2013. Since then, she has developed expertise in ensuring that her clients receive the benefits they deserve, representing hundreds of injured workers across the Commonwealth and achieving multiple six-figure settlements.

In her practice, Lauren offers every aspect of legal representation for workers’ compensation claimants including counseling prospective clients; coordinating with doctors, hospitals and insurance companies; conducting extensive discovery; preparing for and representing injured workers at depositions and hearings; resolving cases through mediation; engaging in settlement negotiations; trying cases in court; and if necessary, preparing appeal briefs. She still actively collects statutory fees from health care providers, but that work now represents a smaller part of her practice.

Prior to establishing her workers’ compensation practice in 2012, Lauren practiced regulatory health care law for seven years, where she represented a variety of health care providers and served as in-house counsel for a national medical supplier. Lauren’s extensive background in the health care legal field gives her a unique advantage when working with doctors, hospitals, government agencies and medical suppliers to obtain important health care benefits for her clients.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University, Lauren pursued her Juris Doctor at the University of Richmond School of Law. In law school, Lauren was Manuscripts Editor for the Richmond Journal of Law and Technology and a senior staff member of the Richmond Journal of Law and Public Interest.

Lauren was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2005. She is an active member of the Richmond legal community and a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. She has served on the board of directors for a local adult day services provider and for the University of Richmond School of Law Young Graduate Association. Lauren is licensed to practice law in Virginia.

“I find it rewarding to help injured workers. They often face distinct disadvantages in bargaining power due to a lack of knowledge about workers’ compensation laws and process. I help them successfully navigate the complicated and often unfair Virginia workers’ compensation system.”
