Can I sue my employer as a result of injuries I sustained on the job?

ANSWER

Generally speaking, no.  But if your injuries were caused by the negligence of a third party, you may be able to pursue a personal injury case against that third party.  For example, if you were involved in a motor vehicle accident while on the job, and the accident was the other driver’s fault, you may be able to pursue a personal injury claim against the other driver in addition to pursuing a workers’ compensation claim against your employer.
